Terms of Service

These Terms of Service (the “Terms”) govern your use of the LingoMesh mobile and web service (the “Service”) provided by LingoMesh (the “Provider”). By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you agree to these Terms.

1. Purpose

The Terms set out the conditions, procedures, rights, and obligations that apply to the real-time AI interpretation service offered through the LingoMesh application.

2. Definitions

  1. Service. The LingoMesh application and related features, including one-to-one local interpretation, group-room interpretation, and supporting capabilities such as text-to-speech.
  2. User. Any individual who accepts these Terms and holds a Service account.
  3. Account. The unique identifier (UID) issued through Firebase Authentication together with the linked email and display name.
  4. Room. A virtual space hosting a live interpretation session. A Group Room may accommodate up to eight participants.
  5. Points. Cyber currency credited or debited under the Provider’s policy. Points are not redeemable for cash.
  6. Subscription. A recurring paid plan purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play in-app billing.

3. Acceptance and changes to the Terms

  1. The Terms take effect when posted in the app or on this page.
  2. The Provider may amend the Terms within the limits of applicable law. We will announce amendments in the Service at least 7 days before the effective date. For amendments that are materially unfavourable to you, we will give 30 days’ notice and, where required, request renewed consent.
  3. If you do not accept an amendment, you may stop using the Service and request account deletion.

4. Account creation

  1. Accounts are created through Firebase Authentication using Google or Apple sign-in or an email/password combination.
  2. The Provider may refuse a registration, or terminate an existing account after the fact, in any of the following cases:
    • Using another person’s identity or providing false information.
    • Being under 14 years of age.
    • Having previously lost account standing due to a breach of these Terms.
    • Other circumstances the Provider reasonably considers inappropriate.

5. Provision of the Service

  1. The Provider offers:
    • Local interpretation — bidirectional real-time interpretation between two languages on a single device.
    • Group interpretation — multi-party rooms of up to eight participants, delivering each speaker’s words in the other participants’ preferred languages in real time.
    • Auxiliary features — on-device conversation history, text-to-speech playback, usage statistics.
  2. The Service is offered on a best-effort basis. It may be temporarily interrupted for system maintenance or due to outages of upstream LLM, STT, or payment providers, force majeure, or power failure. Scheduled maintenance will be announced in advance whenever practicable.
  3. AI translation output is generated automatically and is not guaranteed to be complete or accurate. You must not rely on translation output alone for material decisions.

6. Paid features and billing

  1. Paid features are purchased through Apple App Store or Google Play in-app billing. The Provider does not store payment instruments.
  2. Refund policy follows the marketplace where the purchase was made. The right of withdrawal under Article 17 of the Korean Act on Consumer Protection in Electronic Commerce applies only to the extent allowed by that statute.
  3. Interpretation time or points already consumed are not refundable.
  4. Auto-renewing subscriptions can be cancelled by you through the subscription menu in Apple App Store or Google Play. Deleting your account alone will not cancel an active subscription.
  5. The Provider may run free trials or promotions on terms separately announced.

7. User obligations

  1. You agree to comply with these Terms, applicable law, and any operating policies that the Provider publishes.
  2. You must not:
    • Interpret or transmit content that infringes another person’s rights (copyright, personality rights, etc.).
    • Transmit unlawful content (obscene material, gambling, drugs, terrorism-related content, and similar).
    • Interfere with the stability or normal operation of the Service (e.g., automated traffic or scraping).
    • Use another person’s account or payment instrument without authorisation.
  3. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials safe. The Provider is not liable for losses arising from disclosure to third parties unless caused by the Provider’s wilful misconduct or gross negligence.

8. Restriction of Service

If you breach these Terms or applicable law, the Provider may warn, temporarily suspend, permanently suspend, or delete the offending account. Serious violations may result in immediate action without prior notice.

9. Disclaimers

  1. The Provider does not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or fitness for any particular purpose of AI translation output and is not liable for losses arising from reliance on the output. Expert review is recommended before relying on translations for medical, legal, or contractual decisions.
  2. The Provider is not responsible for interruption, delay, or error in the Service caused by force majeure, third-party LLM, STT, or payment provider outages, defects in your device, or other circumstances beyond the Provider’s reasonable control.
  3. The Provider does not pre-screen content posted or transmitted by users. Liability for disputes arising from such content rests with the user who posted or transmitted it.

10. Termination and account deletion

  1. You may request account deletion at any time. The procedure is described on the dedicated account deletion request page.
  2. The Provider will respond to deletion requests within 7 business days.
  3. Auto-renewing subscriptions must be cancelled by you in Apple App Store or Google Play. Account deletion alone will not cancel a subscription.

11. Privacy

The categories of personal data collected, the purposes of processing, retention periods, third-party disclosures, and your rights are described in the Privacy Policy.

12. Intellectual property

  1. The Service, the content the Provider produces, and the LingoMesh trademark and logo belong to the Provider or to legitimate rightsholders. You may not copy, distribute, or create derivative works without prior written consent.
  2. Rights to the speech and conversation content you input through the Service remain with you. The Provider processes such content only to the extent necessary to provide and improve the Service.

13. Governing law and dispute resolution

  1. The Terms are governed by and construed under the laws of the Republic of Korea.
  2. The Provider and you will attempt to resolve disputes through consultation in good faith. If consultation fails, the court of first instance shall be the court of your domicile under the Korean Civil Procedure Act. If you have no domicile in Korea, the court having jurisdiction over the Provider’s place of business shall apply.
